| Committee Members: Anne Brown, Marilyn Carlson (Co-chair), Barbara Edwards, Cathy Kessel, Chris Rasmussen (Co-chair), Annie Selden, Rina Zazkis. The SIGMAA on RUME Publication Committee initiated a project to publish anMAA Notes Volume, Making the Connection: Research and Practice inUndergraduate Mathematics. Our proposal for this volume was approved and weare now moving forward in preparing the volume for submission to the MAA.The goal of this publication is to provide an accessible reflection andsummary of previously published research in undergraduate mathematicseducation, relative to specific RUME research topics. The two general areasof focus are student conceptions of central ideas in particular contentdomains (e.g., linear algebra, differential equations, abstract algebra, calculus) and cross cutting themes (e.g., proving, defining, problemsolving, issues related to teaching). The planned volume will have 22chapters. The Publication Committee is continuing to assist the editors of the RCME volumes as needed. We are undertaking a search for replacements for the current Managing Editor,Cathy Kessel, and Assistant Managing Editor, Michael Keynes, who haveindicated a desire to resign. RCME V was published in December 2003and is available through the AMS Bookstore at http://www.ams.org/bookstore/cbmathseries .To date, five manuscripts have been accepted for RCME VI.
