Governance Committee Report, January 08, 2002

The major task of the Governance Committee was accomplished in the Fall of 2000 in getting the Charter and By-Laws changes ready for a vote in January. The committee proposed revised Charter and By-Laws documents which were adopted at the regular Business Meeting of SIGMAA on RUME in New Orleans, January 2001. We did spend a bit of time discussion a minor wording change last spring to satisfy the MAA. We decided that was a minor technical change reflecting how MAA operates and really did not require a vote of the organization since a change in substance was not being made. I believe all the documents have now been accepted by the MAA and we are now operating under the Charter and By-Laws as accepted at the January meeting.

To the best of our knowledge no further issues have been raised regarding governance and so the committee has nothing new to report. We are ready to consider governance issues as they arise.
